Colonial Plaza Fire - 10/02/2004

The Middletown Fire Department responded to a structure fire at " Colonial Plaza" on Rt. 35N in Middletown at 5:01am , Sat Morning (10/2).

Under the direction of MTFD Chief William J. Hibell, over 60 members of 7 stations and special units responded, including:

 

Port Monmouth Fire Company was on standby if additional support was needed.

 

Upon Arrival there were heavy smoke conditions, and the fire was under control in 25 minutes. Due to the fast response of the MTFD, the fire was contained to only one store in the plaza, "Middletown Bagels". The fire department remained at the scene until 7:30am . No injuries were reported.

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office.
